FAMILY GUY :: Script Reading

Head on over to fox.com (well, it would probably be easier if you just click the link above) for a behind-the-scenes look at a script reading for a new episode of Family Guy (I’m counting the days until May, when the new episodes start).

As cool as it is to get new episodes, the reasoning behind bringing the series back is less than noble. For the benefit of easy reading, I’ve reduced the entire scenario into an equation:

(Cancelled Series) + (2.6 million DVD sales) = New Episodes

The first volume of the Family Guy was the highest selling TV DVD in 2003, selling 1.6 million copies. The second volume has already hit 1 million sales. So, basically, Fox decided to bring an unexpected cash cow back from the dead.

I didn’t even like Family Guy when it was originally on. I didn’t watch enough of the show to really get it and dismissed it as another Simpsons wannabe (a mistake I also made at first with Futurama). My wife and I now own both Family Guy volumes and all four volumes of Futurama.
