I’ve been fascinated by lighters since I was a little kid. One can stare a zippo flame for several minutes pondering matter-energy exchange, man’s harnessing of fire, etc etc etc, just like you would a regular fire in a fireplace. I’ve always been the boyscout-type as far as carrying tools (maybe someday I’ll inventory my laptop bag and post the contents here, you’d be surprised what all I carry) and a lighter just seemed like a natural thing to want to have around.
