Anniversary Weekend

Yesterday was my first wedding anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been a full year since my wife and I said the I-do’s, and as of this June it’ll be our fifth year together over all. When your first wedding anniversary comes around you inevitably end up reminiscing about that past year and your relationship as a whole. In the last year we’ve been through our share of health problems, pet health problems, we’ve watched friends move away, we’ve made some great new friends, we’ve struggled with new jobs, struggled with the car, we built our first large aquarium, played a LOT of video games, fixed a lot of computers, changed a lot of motor oil, started this blog, jumped back on the cable and broadband bandwagon, went to two of the largest family reunions I’ve ever seen, enjoyed time at my parent’s cottage on Lake Michigan, had a great Christmas, took a lot of pictures, the list goes on and on.

My wife bought me the lighter pictured above for an anniversary present. It’s a German engineered VecTor Vega butane torch lighter. Now, I’ve thought torch lighters were cool since the cheap $5 variety started appearing in gas stations everywhere (long before I actually had a USE for them). This lighter should last me the rest of my life if I treat it right. Every component in the lighter (excluding fuel tank elements) is made of a high-polish chromed metal, so the lighter has a pleasant heft to it (almost surprising when you first pick it up). The great thing about Vector lighters is that they’re very affordable and won’t break your bank account.

All-in-all it was a great weekend 🙂
