Is the Darth Blog Lucas?

The Darth Side: Memoirs of a Monster: Collect Call From Coruscant

After reading the latest entry in the Darth Vader blog I posted about earlier, I’ve got a feeling this might be a viral marketing campaign for the movie. The timing is a little convenient considering the number of Star Wars fans and the rising number of bloggers (meaning I think somebody could’ve done it earlier, anonymous blogs are a fairly common occurrence). Perhaps Skywalker Ranch researched the topic and, discovering nobody had actually done it, jumped at the opportunity. Hell, if I worked for Lucas’s marketing department I know I would.

At the very least, the author is little by little revealing more of a unique voice as the character. The first few entries contained a lot more of the hah-hah-that’s-clever type humor (the shattering asteroids with his mind while on the bridge for fun bit really made me laugh), but the last few entries are taking on a more serious tone and is attempting to explain the emotional link between Anakin and Vader. As the big opening day draws closer that’s the topic I hear all the big fans discussing. Just how does that obnoxious little kid in Episode I turn into the galactic embodiment of evil?
