Poppe, Michael P. Lansing, MI Age 71, passed away on August 7, 2005. He was born on February 9, 1934 in Moundsville, WV. Michael was retired, having worked as a vocational electronics instructor for 30 years. He served as a medic in the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed spending time camping and traveling in all 50 states, Canada and Europe. He played football for Ohio University, and was an avid sportsman all of his life. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 49 1/2 years, Carol; daughters, Nancy (Craig) Allen of Haslett, Molly (Carlos) Salinas of San Antonio, TX and Jenny (Douglas) Kuck of Caledonia, MI; grandchildren, Jason (Jenny), Whitney, Katherine and Courtney Allen, Alexander, Cassandra and Zackery Kuck; mother, Katherine Poppe of Shadyside, OH; sisters, Eleanor McMahon of Shadyside, OH and Jean (Tullio) Ciancone of Bellaire, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Poppe, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. Dr. Peter Lauber officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time. The family wishes to thank the staff at Ingham Regional Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to them during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham Regional Medical Center, ICU, in memory of Michael P. Poppe.
