Guster in EL 9-30-07

August 23rd, 2007 No comments

I’m not a huge concert fan. I’d rather sit down and enjoy it so some venues are cool, others I’m just exhausted by the time a show is over (I still tease Jen about the abuse our bodies and ears took at the Pharcyde concert a few years back).

According to their email list Guster has an East Lansing show scheduled for September 30th. Speaking as someone who is both on said list and has watched for a loooong time as the closest show was at Interlochen, this is a rare occasion.

*Insert old timey suspense music* “Will Jay brave crowds of drunk MSU students to see Guster perform?”

I guess we’ll see… I’m thinking about it.

So far tickets are TBA for both time, exact location, and price.

UPDATE: Tickets are $25 and go on sale on 9/7/07. Show will be held at the MSU Auditorium.

…from me…to you both…

Jason and Jenny…

Through the years…Jenny…one thing has remained constant…the fact that we’ve always been there for one another..I know you remember how awful I was to your past ‘boyfriends’…and with good reason…in retrospect…but in the end..I love you…with all my heart…

Jay…the rest of this post is for you…

I couldn’t be prouder…or more humbled…that in some part of her mind…Jen took some part of what I tried to teach her…what Mom tried to teach her…and chose someone like you…it was all her…I’m not trying to take credit for steering her at all…but I like to believe…she listened..and took a lil bit of our advice…and suddenly there you were…

I couldn’t be prouder…or more pleased…that she chose to share herself with you…give herself to you…and go through the sacrament of marriage…let alone childbirth…with you…and noone else…

Jay…I’m honoured…I can’t put it any other way…

Thank You..

Love, Seth

Everything makes so much more sense now.

R.I.P. Mr. Wizard

June 12th, 2007 No comments

Up until now I never really thought about it, but Mr. Wizard totally helped turn me into the geek I am today.

Don Herbert, a.k.a. Mr Wizard passed away today at the age of 89 after a long battle with cancer.
So right about now I’d guess he’s teaching Jesus how to blow stuff up with common household objects, sort of like he is here with David Letterman in 1982.

Damn…it -has- been a while

Finally…the Ro…no, that doesn’t quite work…stealing catchphrases is kinda lame, especially when the one yer stealing appears on t-shirts…

Anyway…seeing that Jay finally updated this place reminded me that I too can saturate your consciousness with my babble, so since I’m not totally sober, I will…

Being the big brother in any scenario involving a baby rules…

Even though the song’s kinda catchy…the reality of the situation is that you should never “wish they all could be California girls”…

We really need to start updating this thing more than once every 50 days or so…

Everything supposedly happens for a reason…

Why don’t we usually know those reasons?…

By now…is there anyone who doesn’t know smoking’s bad for you?…

That’s all for now…I’ll do better next time…

Tell Me More of This “Blog” You Speak Of

May 23rd, 2007 3 comments

I totally fail at updating this site.

‘Nuff said.

So now that that’s out of the way, I guess updates are in order.

The awesome and mighty power of the baby belly is still accumulating energy and has already acquired an astonishing amount of stuff. Crib, stroller, mattress, changing mattress, oodles of onesies, blankets and cloths, multiple portable cribs, (take a breath) bouncers, car seats, toys, bottles, pacifiers, travel bags, hats, mittens, diapers, wipes, wipe warmer, swaddling clothes, hoodie blankets, baby bath tubs, socks, overalls, safety locks, bassinet……….

I’m done trying to remember of all of it.

We’re now at the point where the birth could start at any time, and there’s a lot of camera hardware waiting to watch this little guy grow up.

And you’ll see it. Prepare yourself!

Richard Dreyfuss! (Updated: Getting Better)

March 25th, 2007 No comments

Sometimes sarcasm is difficult to get across in text…

After a long second shift at work tonight, while Jen was getting down with some Final Fantasy XII, I decided to catch up on my RSS feed reading.

The Wharton Center announced their lineup for the next year, and it is shorter than normal because they want to leave room for tour acts that always come around mid-season.

That’s the good news.

To be honest, the only thing that really piqued my interest at all was Richard Dreyfuss on February 4th 2008.

That’s right, Richard Dreyfuss. About the only thing that can make this any better is if Treat Williams shows up and they sing a duet together.

UPDATE: 6/03/07 I saw a commercial tonight with more of the recently added performances and Monty Python’s Spamalot will be playing on December 4 – 9 2007. Definitely an improvement.

26 Days Later, Eyes Won’t Focus, Son Of J

January 31st, 2007 2 comments

I’ve been meaning to post something new for days. Hell, let’s be honest, weeks.

This soon-to-be-dad stuff is both awesome and terrifying. Simultaneously the most exhilarating and draining experience of my entire life. Many times I want to just keel over and sleep but every time I think of holding our little boy for the first time it’s like I’ve got an engine I didn’t know was there.

Jenny has been feeling the first really bad pains associated with pregnancy (mostly in the back) and as a result I’ve spent the last two days working help desk from home on my MacBook. While it can admirably do all the tasks I need to perform my job, is just physically exhausting compared to my setup at work. If you’ve got to spend 8+ hours almost in a row with a computer I recommend at least a 19″ screen and that’s pushing it on the low end. Home office here I come.

And so, dear reader, as my eyes are losing the ability to focus on the screen while I write this, I wish you good luck. Good luck because there’s a sea of random baby stuff most likely in the near future for this site. My new year’s resolution was to try and write more, and on the last day of the first month there’s only one solution: Our random lives and the random stuff that happens. Stuff I previously didn’t write about because I figured no one would want to hear it.

Deal. 🙂

Aidan Cullum Allen is the leading name choice for the baby, he’s due June 8th, and I can’t wait to meet him. Wish us luck!

New species of humans!!

January 30th, 2007 No comments

Dude! New species of humans discovered on tiny island in Indonesia! Not only that, but they’re tiny!!!!

Giggity!

My creepy dreams of a race of midgets have FINALLY come true! Too bad the little buggers have been extinct for 12,000 years. They would have made the best ankle-biting army a guy like me could have asked for….
