		<title>Might be time to dump Facebook</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.loosewireblog.com/2008/01/who-needs-enemi.html">This post</a> at the loose wire blog showed up in my RSS feeds today, and one quick read was enough to make me consider pulling the plug on my facebook account.</p>
<p>Two major points:  Your data and your friends&#8217; data can be used by the third parties that made the facebook apps you install.  I&#8217;ve done some support for some of the people who develop these applications and that thought doesn&#8217;t exactly thrill me.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the second major item that really bothered me, regarding the handling of private data (and more importantly your friends&#8217; data):</p>
<blockquote><p>Our data is vulnerable to the weakest link in the chain, which will be a friend we&#8217;ve given full access to who installs every third party app there is.</p></blockquote>
<p>We all know <em>plenty</em> of those&#8230;</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve never really put out a call for comments on anything before,  but I know there&#8217;s a fair amount of you who read this site that also use facebook.  Please <a href="http://www.loosewireblog.com/2008/01/who-needs-enemi.html">read through it</a> and let me know what you think.</p>
